From Marm’s last week with L, where we sat all morning and looked out at the cathedral. Then we went for a huge walk in one of my favourite places, from Castleton over Cave Dale to Mam Tor. J used to take me there when I needed space to read and write and clear my head so it was nice to revisit. When we reached the top of the narrow valley and the sun broke between two mossy boulders it felt for a minute like we had reached the safest, quietest, most tranquil place in the world.
